Stuffed Dates | Tamar

Stuffed Dates can be made in numerous ways and as party favors, dessert, mouth freshener, a topping on dessert, can even be served with tea, or snacks or packed in tiffin, for travel and would be an amazing dish for a sweet table. So Put on your creative hats and get ready.

Stuffed dates are very healthy for toddlers and adults alike. Protein packed and full of flavors. Undoubtedly my favorite healthy snack for toddlers( the ones without the whole dry fruit), and it is definitely a better option than giving a piece of candy or chocolate.

These Stuffed dates are super easy to make and very very versatile. These can be tweaked according to your mood or time or event or purpose.

To start with, you will need :

  • Your favorite dates or may be not-so-favorite-but-u-want-to-get-rid-of Dates
  • Almonds or your-choice-of-dry fruits
  • Cream cheese / Nutella / Chocolate / Peanut butter / Mawa(dried milk) /Almond sugar paste
  • For Garnishing:- granulated sugar / tutti frooti/ sprinkles/ chocolate chips/ slivers of almond / pistachios / dried rose petals.

Directions:

For Nutella filled stuffed Dates : Slit open the date, take out the seed and replace it with a roasted almond. Pipe in some Nutella, stick some almond and pistachio slivers. After all dates are done, put it in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Enjoy.

For Cream cheese stuffed Dates : Slit open the date, take out the seed, stuff 1/2 tsp of cream cheese mixed with honey. Garnish with chocolate chips or chocolate shavings. After all dates are done, put it in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Enjoy.

For after meal dates: Slit open the date, take out the seed. Take some cottage cheese (paneer), saute in a tsp of pure ghee, add sugar according to taste, add some rose water and cardamom powder, cook well till dry and cool, Stuff the above mixture and stick some crushed pistachios and dried rose petals. Refrigerate and Enjoy.

For Almond paste stuffed dates: Slit open the date, take out the seed. Now take 1/2 cup of almonds, boil for 5 minutes, peel and grind. Add 1/4th cup of sugar, grind. In a pan, take a tsp of butter and add the almond sugar paste, sprinkle some cinnamon powder and mix well. Cool down and stuff the mixture in the date. Garnish with slivers of pistachio or press in whole raisins. Serve

Dried Stuffed dates with Mawa(reduced dry milk) : Boil dry dates in milk for 15 minutes. Cool and Slit open, de-seed. Saute some mawa (reduced dried milk) in ghee and add sugar, cook well till absolutely dry. Add some rose essence and cardamom powder. Cool and stuff the mixture in the date. Can be garnished with sprinkles. Serve.

Chocolate stuffed Dates: Slit open the date, take out the seed. Put a dry fruit of choice, Pipe in melted compound chocolate, garnish with sprinkles, or white chocolate chips. Put in refrigerator for at least an hour.

These stuffed dates can be dipped in molten chocolate or ganache as well, or just drizzle some melted compound chocolate (brown or white according to choice) and set. The stuffed dates can be individually wrapped as well and put in party favor bags also. An instant hit at my place. I make these in Medjool dates as Medjool are slightly long and fleshy.
